The Sublime Beauty Of A Guitar
Mar 14th, 2010 | By Romantic-Guru | Category: UncategorizedMost any person who really loves certain styles of music such as rock, jazz or blues thinks that guitars are just plain beautiful. They may not even know how to play the instrument, but they do know the truth of the place of the guitar in many kinds of popular music today, including rock ‘n roll, which it’s dominated since the rise of that form of music. In fact, many famous guitarists are completely associated with certain kinds of guitars.
For instance, take many of the best known folk singers in their own guitars, or the classic singer-songwriter and his or her guitar. They usually have several or more in their collection, including a classic dreadnought acoustic guitar that may have cost several thousand dollars, or might have been found in the local pawn shop for a couple of hundred and they just don’t want to part with it.
Besides, the sheer beauty of a guitar because of its shape and the way it’s handled helps it stand out from many other instruments. They are also attractive because they can be relatively easy to learn, at least on a basic level. And acoustic guitars are doubly attractive to people because they don’t require the use of amplification and can be slung over a back and taken anywhere.
Before rushing out to buy an expensive Alvarez acoustic guitar, for example, decide what form and style of music is most attractive. Many of the most famous rock guitarists have never touched an acoustic guitar in their lives and a great many acoustic guitarists of some note report never having touched an electric guitar. It probably is more a matter of preference, though.
Generally speaking, there are couple of different music styles that are more appropriate for electric guitar playing, such as blues, rock and jazz while acoustic guitars seem to be appropriate for folk music and the like. There’s nothing wrong with this separation, and it’s also true that there have been more than a few rock ballads and the like in which an acoustic guitar has played a large part and vice versa. For sure, though, a guitar can improve almost any piece of music.
People who seem to perform better when it comes to learning a guitar say that one reason they do so is because they’ve plain fallen in love with the guitar in all its shape and form. They also understand, instinctively, that spending a bit more money on a guitar that’s well-built and can be well played is important. So rather than skimp on a purchase, it might be better to spend money on something like a Takamine acoustic guitar instead of some department store knockoff.
In truth, guitars are just plain beautiful for many reasons and they seem to have a hold on most people who might be considering playing an instrument but haven’t quite decided what to play. In that event, it’s usually the guitar that wins out, and that’s been the case ever since rock ‘n roll first arose, it seems. Whether that means learning to play an electric guitar or acoustic guitar — or both — people seem to like them for the fact that they are also portable and that they also sound very nice.
