juegos There’s an overwhelming amount of films about Dracula out there. As I’m reflecting on all the films I’ve seen thus far, most of them are pretty mediocre. I know when most people consider a Dracula film, the first title that usually pops in their head is Francis Ford Coppola’s interpretation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Remember it? Dracula is played by Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder features as his eternal love, Mina Harker.

Maybe I set my expectations too high when I first saw this film, but I didn’t feel anything while watching it or after it was over. Many people loved it. I suspect their opinions were swayed after seeing Francis Ford Coppola highlight as the director. (He was responsible for the Godfather’s after all.)

trabajo To be fair, the overall cinematography of this film was beautifully done – it LOOKED great. It also faithfully follows Bram Stoker’s original Dracula story. What didn’t I like about it? I felt more than a few scenes were extremely slow-moving and over-dramatized. Also, it was just such a faithful rendition of the Dracula story… nothing new or intriguing to spark my imagination. This kills me since I’m a very story-driven person.

Hence, I was so thoroughly amazed the first time I watched Dracula 2000. I immediately fell in love with the Dracula myth presented in this film and it still reigns in my heart as THE explanation of how Dracula came into being and why vampires exist. Plus, Gerard Butler lends his dark good looks for the role of Dracula. (He’s the same actor who played the Phantom in the musical film version of Phantom of the Opera, representing yet another dark tortured soul who steals my heart.)

If you saw the trailer for this film you’re probably casting distrustful eyes in my direction. I whole-heartedly agree that the trailer for this film was horrendous – to be nice. It was so bad that even though I found a clip of it on YouTube, I cannot bear to include it here. And yes overall, the film itself was nothing spectacular. It was predictable, contained some pretty cheesy dialogue at times and didn’t do justice to Butler’s acting skills. The characters (vampires and non-vampires) were pretty flat and I basically went along with the film’s superficial ride to get my vampire+blood media fix for the week. That is – until the final 20 mins or so of the film when Dracula discloses his mysterious origins… then I was hooked.

According to the film, in the ancient times Dracula was still human. That’s right, still human. Those days, he was known as Judas Iscariot. In 2000, Dracula discloses his story to his love (one he’s never shared with anyone else) that he received the ultimate punishment from God for betraying Christ – he is forced to walk the world forever with his guilt. The Judas story also explains why vampires despise silver since silver pieces were involved in the ultimate betrayal. As well, it explains why Dracula is immortal and so difficult to kill – God won’t have him. As the antagonist of Christ, it makes complete sense why Judas/Dracula is such a proponent of sin and pleasure that heaven denies. It’s a very original and ingenious continuation of the biblical story.

Dracula’s flashbacks to his Judas days lasts only 5 mins but it’s such an enlightening scene. I can’t explain it, but I felt a deep sense of fulfillment and satisfaction after I learned it. Suddenly I felt like I understood Dracula so much more and where he was coming from.

If you haven’t yet, you need to see it.

One final note, I made the mistake of watching the 2 direct-to-video sequels to this film naively thinking they would offer more insight and elaboration into the Judas story. They didn’t. William Carlos Williams is recognized as one of the leading poets of the first half of the twentieth century, and was applauded for carving a unique identity in poetry. For a good portion of Williams career, he wrote using the concept of Objectivism, devoting his poems to describing objects. In this manner, the poems were often very neutral in their tone as Williams described everyday happenings in a manner that kept him separated from his poetry. However, as Williams Carlos Williams neared his death, his poetry changed significantly, as best seen in his poem "Of Asphodel, That Greeny Flower."

One of the most distinct features of William Carlos Williams poetry is his choice to ignore measures by count and instead, to base his poetry on its sound or the "simple rightness of his eye and ear." Williams wanted the poems to read naturally to a person, flowing smoothly like music. A similar breaking from measure had arisen with free verse, but Williams disagreed with this as being a contradiction. Verse implies some kind of measure and so, free verse seemed a contradictory form. Williams instead utilized a technique called variable foot which involved a visual structuring of the lines. The poem was broken down with every three lines structured so each line was indented further than the last. Every line in these sets represented a beat. However, criticism of Williams' strategy arose over the fact that it only worked in his head and may not fit every reader. Each person reads things differently, and so, it can register with an incorrect measure in many readers' minds.

The other feature of William Carlos Williams writing was his separation from his writing, and its emphasis on the object. Williams stayed away from philosophy and metaphysics, believing that poetry should contain "no ideas but in things." This is clear by his famous poem, "The Red Wheelbarrow," in which Williams describes the wheelbarrow using no other descriptive terms than those physically visible. As part of this, Williams had purged "I" from his writing since there was no need to include his own presence when describing an image.

Taking these ideas, the first thing seen when reading the poem "Of Asphodel, That Greeny Flower" is its fitting into Williams "variable foot" structure. The thirty page poem is broken up into three books. The lines of each book are structured in the sets of three lines so that a sequence of lines in the poem would appear as follows:

"Of asphodel, that greeny flower,
like a buttercup
upon its branching stem-"

However, while Williams' "Of Asphodel, That Greeny Flower" fits into his standard structure for his poetry, the poem is a significant departure in content from his previous works. The poem is confessional, as Williams speaks to his wife about his infidelity and how their relationship has developed over time. The most immediate sign that something is amiss is that the poem makes extensive use of the term "I," abandoning Williams' Objectivism of his youth and becoming a more personal, biographical account. The poem is comprised largely of references to Williams' memories of his experiences with his wife. For instance, at one point, Williams refers to the time, thirty years earlier, when he and his wife had gone to Switzerland and witnessed the unveiling of Jungfrau.

Because of its confessional format and use of personal experiences, the poem alludes to feelings and thoughts instead of just the depiction of images for the reader to interpret on his or her own. An example of this is the lines:

"It has been
For you and me
as one who watches a storm
come in over the water."

This set of lines includes a simile, comparing the experiences of Williams and his wife to watching a storm. While this might seem perfectly normal for any other poet, Williams had been of the belief that the images and objects should stand for themselves and did not require any further description to convey their meaning. However, as Williams starts to describe feelings and emotions, he is entering a realm of poetry he has often shied away from and so, must use similes and metaphors in order to properly describe them.
Another example of this is the lines:

"it is as if
a sweet-scented flower
were poised
and for me did open."

In these lines, Williams is likening the way he and his wife fell in love to a flower blooming before him. Here again, Williams is attempting to describe an emotional experience and feels that he must go beyond simply describing it as an object and bring in additional images.

Why did William Carlos Williams change his style? The answer to this question seems to lie in Williams' experiences at the time of the writing of "Asphodel." Williams wrote the poem from 1952 to 1954. At the start of his writing in 1952, Williams had suffered a heart attack and three strokes within the last three years. His degrading health showed him that death was approaching. At the same time, Williams had a stressful relationship with his wife as he had cheated on her numerous times with other women. Recognizing his love for her as his time was running out, "Of Asphodel, That Greeny Flower" served as a way to tell his wife everything that he needed to say and to ask for her forgiveness.

These feelings of Williams can be seen throughout the poem. His approaching death can be seen when he says:

"Approaching death
as we think, the death of love,
no distinction
any more suffices to differentiate
the particulars
of place and condition
with which we have been long
familiar."

Likewise, the feeling of writing a confession and of death's nearness can be seen in the first book when Williams writes:

"And so
with fear in my heart
I drag it out
and keep on talking
for I dare not stop.
Listen while I talk on
against time."

Williams pleads with his wife to listen to him and offer forgiveness as he says at the end of book 1:

"Hear me out
for I too am concerned
and every man
who wants to die at peace in his bed
besides."

In looking at William Carlos Williams writing of the Asphodel, it is revealing to see how age and the nearness of death caused his poetry to change. In his early years, Williams was a follower of Objectivism, writing poems in which the objects spoke for themselves and in which his energy was invested in describing the scene at hand. However, after suffering from strokes and a heart attack, Williams feared that he would go to the grave with all of his feelings kept secret and so, his poetry changed to reflect the confessional style of poetry. This is clear in "Of Asphodel, That Greeny Flower" where Williams writes a love letter and apology to his wife you can be published without charge. Talk Radio is a play about a late night radio host, Barry Champlain, who has always been controversial and who is also about to expand his popular talk show from Cleveland to move it to a broader nationwide audience. One night, he faces several callers who make him reveal his true feelings live on air. He is known to be abusive and insulting to his callers, and that is what makes him so popular. There are callers waiting in line to speak to him on air because they want to hear his scathing words and insults. He invites listeners to call him and to tell him what is troubling them, and then he deals with them in a cold and derisive careless manner.

On the show he has to deal with all types of callers such as those who tell him that they are afraid of a garbage disposal, or talk to him about the surgeries they have had, or even one case when a caller is trying to wake up his girlfriend and thinks she is dead. Champlain deals with them all with his sharp tongue and scathing words. Based on his show ratings, his sponsors want to broadcast his show nationwide. This does not please Champlain though and he gets even worse and more perverse on air which scares the sponsors. And when he is asked to tone it down, he gets devastatingly abusive on his show egging his audience to give him their “best shot”.

The play was written by Eric Bogosian who also wrote the screenplay for and acted in the film byof the same name. He effectively portrays how people love scandals, misery and pain, and how Champlain takes advantage of this and makes his show popular with his controversial and abrasive harsh words. Bogosian’s play is loosely based on real life radio talk show host, Alan Berg, who was murdered in 1984.

Talk Radio was first staged at the Public Theater in 1987 and seeing its success there, Bogosian decided to revive the play on Broadway. The play had its first preview on February 15, 2007 and it opened at Longacre Theater on March 11, 2007. The play is directed by Robert Falls and the cast includes Liev Schreiber as the acid-tongued Barry Champlain, Stephanie March as Linda MacArthur, Peter Hermann as Dan Woodruff and Michael Laurence as Stu Noonan. Incidentally, Michael Laurence stands in for Liev Schreiber in a couple of performances.

Liev Schreiber is well known for his powerful performances in Macbeth, Hamlet, Betrayal and Glengarry Glen Ross. He won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play, for Glengarry Glen Ross. Director Robert Falls has directed hits like Death Of A Salesman for which he won a Tony Award, as well as Shining City and Long Day’s Journey Into Night.

Tickets for Talk Radio are available from the box office at Longacre Theater. You could also order tickets on the phone or online. Considering that the play has a it has a limited run planned, it will be difficult to get tickets but if you book in advance then you can avoid being disappointed. And maybe find the perfect retreat.
The bars look great and the beaches too,
And I’ve heard good things about the beautiful view.
I hear late deals are easy to find,
So it shouldn’t be a problem, I hope they’re kind!

The storyline revolves once again around the Autobots and Decepticons. Some of the evil Decepticons awake the most dreaded and vivacious Decepticon of all, The Fallen! He had been lying on the core of the ocean for hundreds of years and now in the sequel he rises again.

This powerful and hefty new Decepticon is the major part of the movie. As the name suggest, the Fallen will help the Decepticons in war against the Autobots and humans. In this sequel, Megatron also rises from death. He supposedly returns with the help of the piece of Allspark left with Sam Witwicky.

John Wayne

Also known as Michael Morris and Duke Morris, John Wayne was born in 1907 and is on the American Film Institute’s list of Greatest Male Stars of All Time. He began acting in silent movies in the 1920’s, but his peak as an actor occurred between the 1940’s and 1970’s. His most identifying film genre is the western, however he was a diverse actor who also starred in romantic comedies, dramas, and biographies.

In the movie “Sergeant York” after Gary Cooper (York) comes back to the states as a hero and is given a warm welcome in New York City, he gets a call from his mother back home. It is the first time she has ever used a telephone. She tries to talk to him but can’t hear because she’s not close enough to the phone. Finally her daughter tells her to get closer to the phone and she asks Alvin the famous question “Alvin, when are yuh commin’ home?” There wasn’t a dry eye in the theater when they showed this.

Of course one of the most telephone centered movies of all time was “Pillow Talk” where almost the whole movie revolved around Rock Hudson and Doris Day talking on the phone split screen to each other while in their beds, thus the title of the movie.

Yes, as much as the telephone plays a significant role in our real lives it also has played a significant role in the lives of many film characters

One of the cool things about After Effects is the endless possibilities with tweeks, effects, layers and perspective and all these possibilities can be overwhelming too.

Fortunately, some that are quite simple pay in spades. There are tools to help you ‘trip the fantastic’, brainstorm to see countless possibilities of an effect you are working with, one is named, you guessed it, ‘brainstorm’ and as you apply this to an effect your are experimenting with, After Effects produces many variations on the tunable parameters available. You can simply walk through the results presented, see if you favor some, check which tuning blend produced it. Like many ‘assistants’ this will help you get the results you seek; it will also serve as a learning tool for for.

Even simpler is the += button which ‘walks’ you through the layer blend settings.

Layers … I mean, if you want to play Hollywood – you simply have to cultivate layers. Your animation is improving, you’re having fun with your effects, you’re using tools to create sequences a bit more sophisticated but without layers ‘its’ just one thing. And if you want your new animated friend to sit down with President Obama, or have her cosmic skateboard place her in the sky with stars and other Nasa objects, you have to develop layers.

Just like Hollywood, if you are pleased with the anonymity of your animated friend, you will still need the emotion and drama available from layer blends and the special effects that add to the backdrop, shadow, a bit of blur, special light where You want it.

I want to set up a dog chasing a cat. This is a cute animation with the animals emotions glowing, their relative size expanding with their emotions but their position is *very much* connected, the dog is chasing the Cat!

We can tie both to a Null to create this linked position while leaving them free …. to express their own emotions.

Parenting is a simple concept whose application draws explicitly from the terminology. As you design a relationship, simply ask yourself, which object drives? which object controls the flow you want to combine. Motion is an obvious application. Maybe you have an animated character riding in an automobile. Clearly the automobile drives! (forgive me). Solutions For Sound

Outside you can have sound problems if you don’t have a radio mike, wind is a problem for video camera mikes, and you won’t believe how much traffic shows up, how many planes fly over and how some people can’t keep quiet for just a few minutes.

In many cases you can solve this by shooting image only and adding the sound later. Prepare your script and practice it with the video running.
